Charles Xia BS in Mechanical Engineering Class of 2016

Charles Xia

Charles is an alumnus who majored in Mechanical Engineering. He decided to pursue this major because he grew up learning about computers and had a passion for building things. After building enough model kits, he figured he could probably build anything he can get his hands on. Not really knowing the differences between the different engineering disciplines, he decided to do mechanical engineering because it was the most broad field and could be applied to anything even computers. In the future, he wants to go into electromechanical manufacturing or product design. He has a passion for clean minimal designs that can be applied at a low cost and wants to design his own things in the future. Charles currently works for TEKintellect Inc. as the Head STEM Instructor and teaches a class of Scratch Programming. At school, he is involved with the fraternity and is making sure the upcoming class can be leaders and uphold the fraternities standards and values. During his free time, he likes to read, learn about things outside his major (programming, app development, etc.), plays sports, and practices martial arts.

Diane Xiao BS in Civil Engineering Class of 2016

Diane Xiao

Diane Xiao is an alumna who majored in Civil Engineering and minoring in Construction Management. In addition to focusing on her schoolwork and being part of Theta Tau, Diane is also very active in other clubs within NYU. She was the former Vice President of Programming for Student Council, former Vice President for NYU Institute of Transportation Engineers and currently a member of NYU SOE Chi Epsilon. Last summer, Diane interned at NYC Department of Design & Construction where she assisted in the Project Controls and Project Management unit working on wide range of projects. Currently, she interns at Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. working on projects relating to transportation modeling and visualization. Her additional interests include skiing, camping, reading, trying new cuisines, and exploring new places.

Mohammed Haque BS in Civil Engineering Class of 2017

Mohammed Haque

Mohammed is an alumnus majoring in Civil Engineering. He has aspirations to design projects in impoverished countries, particularly in the construction field. He is currently the Senior Manager at the Brooklyn location of Khan's Tutorial after working as an SHSAT instructor for three years. Mohammed loves eating, trying new things, and spending time with friends and family. He also enjoys playing sports and is a devoted fan of the New York Knicks.

Raymond Tam

Raymond is an alumnus who majored in Civil Engineering. He has a passion for sustainability and sees green buildings and autonomous cars becoming commonplace. In the future, he hopes to work on green buildings after he graduates. During his senior year, Raymond was the Vice Regent for Theta Tau. Outside of school, Raymond has worked with NYC DOT and ThinkEco. During his free time, he likes to read and play basketball.

Geline Canayon

Geline is an alumna who majored in Civil Engineering. Geline was driven to pursue this major because of her fascination in how structures are brought from paper to life. She wants to be involved in projects concerning the sustainable development of urban areas mainly in the fields of transportation and construction. She currently interns at Transport Simulations System where she does transportation modeling. Geline has a great passion for dance and uses her free time to take dance classes in the NYC area and hopes to be back on a dance company after college. She is also part of the International Filipino Association of NYU where she gets a chance to channel her inner performer through its dance team and annual student-produced musical. She loves to cook and bake for her family and friends and dreams to own a cafe one day. She is also a wine and scotch enthusiast.

Austin Newell BS in Civil Engineering Class of 2016

Austin Newell

Austin is an alumnus who majored in Civil Engineering. He grew up in Deer Park, New York and attended private school all of his life. Architecture was his ideal field of work until high school, where he was exposed to engineering courses. Ever since then, he has set his heart on becoming a Civil Engineer. At NYU, Austin has participated in clubs such as American Society of Civil Engineers Student Chapter, Construction Management Association of America Student Chapter, Orientation Leadership, Engineers Without Borders, Institute of Transportation Engineers, and Associate General Contractors of America Student Chapter. He has participated as captains for both the ASCE Concrete Canoe competition and the Design-Build team of the ASC Region 1 Competition. During his free time, he enjoys reading, writing, art, running, and casual gaming.

Margaret Cheng Liang BS in Civil Engineering Class of 2016

Margaret Cheng Liang

Margaret is an alumna who majored in Civil Engineering. She decided to pursue Civil Engineering after taking several drafting classes and interning at a structural engineering firm in high school, where she realized she wanted to build sustainable infrastructure and give back to the community. Over the course of her college career, she has interned at Ysrael A. Seinuk, Evelsons Consultant, and Transport Simulations Systems. At school, she is currently a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and was the Service Chair in Fall 2015 of Theta Tau. During her free time, Margaret enjoys doing yoga and reading fashion and beauty magazines and blogs.

James Tsui BS/MS in Electrical Engineering Class of 2016

James Tsui

James is an alumnus who majored in Electrical Engineering through BS/MS program, attaining both Bachelor and Master degrees. With a passion for biology, he is working on early breast cancer detection for his masters thesis. At school he was the Treasurer of Theta Tau Colony of NYU and played on the NYU Poly Volleyball Varsity team. Outside of academic life, he currently works for Con Edison, with an interest in working in a bio-tech firm and retiring as a teacher. As an avid pescatarian, he advocates a healthy lifestyle through diet and active exercises. He enjoys swimming, running and playing league.

Victor Lee BS in Mechanical Engineering Class of 2016

Victor Lee

Victor is an alumnus who majored in Mechanical Engineering. He decided to pursue Mechanical Engineering after being inspired by the Iron Man and the Fast and Furious movie series. Growing up, he was fascinated by the way machines moved and when he was accepted into Brooklyn Technical High School, his interest in mechanical systems was further nourished. Two summers ago, he worked at High Rise Fire and Security and took part in many projects within the company. At school, he was actively involved in Theta Tau, for he is one of the thirteen founding members of the colony. During his free time, Victor enjoys playing basketball and socializing.

Marco Chen BS in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Class of 2015

Marco Chen

Marco recently graduated in May 2015 with a B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. He is now working as a Junior Project Manager at the NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) as well as playing daily fantasy sports on FanDuel in his off time. In the past, he's completed a summer internship at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. Marco was involved with various student organizations during his time at school, including founding this colony of Theta Tau. He's most proud of his time as an Orientation Leader because it was important to him to help welcome incoming students. As for interests and hobbies, Marco is a huge film buff. He's seen plenty of movies and can talk for hours about them.

Seung Shin

Seung is a proud graduate of the Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering Class of May 2015. During his undergraduate career, he was fortunate to have had various professional working experiences ranging from extensive protein engineering research to administrative positions in the Biomolecular Science program at NYU. After co-founding a company called Ephemeral during his junior year, he's been in love with startups and their insanely positive and synergistic culture ever since. During his free time, he enjoys lifting weights, playing sports, and reading a ton of books.

Cyril Bernardo BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering Class of 2017

Cyril Bernardo

Cyril is an alumnus majoring in BS/MS Mechanical Engineering, with a minor in Aerospace Engineering. This past Fall, he interned at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX; this Spring, he has returned to Warby Parker as their Applied Research intern. On campus, he is a teaching assistant for Aerodynamics, a research assistant in the Aerodynamics laboratory, and a board member for HackNYU2017.

L.D. Nagales

L.D. graduated in spring 2015 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and minored in Aerospace Engineering. He is now working at firm called AKengineering. He decided to pursue this major because it was the broadest engineering field. He took classes that piqued his interest in innovation such as robotics and designing spaceships and planes allowing him to become interested in how building different things worked. L.D. was involved with various student organizaitons during his time at school, including founding this colony of Theta Tau. He was also involved in student council, Lambda Chi Alpha, and the International Filipino Association. During his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, video games, exploring, and gaining new experiences in general.

Alvi Kabir BS in Computer Science Class of 2016

Alvi Kabir

Alvi is an alumnus of the NYU Tandon School of Engineering who graduated in December 2015. During his stay there, he majored in Computer Science due to his interests in solving problems and working with technology. Last summer, Alvi worked for Bank of America in the Equities Algorithm Engines sector. He built a tool for his team that visualized stock order trades that went through BoA's system. Since February 2016, Alvi has been working full time at Bank of America. During his free time, Alvi likes going out for food.

Christian Francisco

Christian is an alumnus majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Growing up in Los Angeles and being situated near serveral theme parks, he developed a love for roller coasters and their designs. Because of this, he decided to pursue a career in ME in the hopes of one day being able to create his own. He is currently at Mount Sinai assisting in their engineering research. At school, he is a member of the International Filipino Association. During his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, volleyball, and eating.

Yasmin Abdul-Manan

Yasmin is an alumna majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Her decision to pursue this degree stemmed from her love for both Physics and Mathematics. She always enjoys problem solving and is intrigued by what a career in engineering has to offer. On campus, Yasmin is a active member of various clubs including the Society of Women Engineers as well as the Muslim Students Association, where she currently is the Marketing Chair.

Helen Wong

Helen is an alumna majoring in Electrical Engineering. She decided to pursue this major because she was fascinated with circuit designing and electricity in high school. In the future, she hopes to use her knowledge in the biomedical field to work together in finding cures for diseases. At NYU, Helen was a Student Orientation Leader and is a Webmaster for Theta Tau. Outside of school, she is currently an Engineering Intern at the Brooklyn/Queens Regional Engineering Department of Con Edison, where she assists engineers on Load Relief and Reliability projects concerning NYC's electric distribution system. During her free time, Helen enjoys trying new food, watching TV, reading novels, and singing in the shower.

Anthony Ynami BS in Integrated Digital Media Class of 2017

Anthony Ynami

Anthony is an alumnus majoring in Integrated Digital Media (IDM) and minoring in Mechanical Engineering (ME). He was originally committed to ME but transferred into IDM when he discovered more desirable career paths. Of these paths, Anthony aims to start off in Web Development (front end). At NYU, he is currently a webmaster and was formerly a Service Chair during Fall 2015 for Theta Tau. He is currently employed as a Resident Assistant for NYU Residential Life and Housing Services. When he's not studying, he enjoys playing soccer, listening to music, reading graphic novels, and watching cartoons.

Julian Carlo Tobias BS in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Class of 2016

Julian Carlo Tobias

Julian Carlo Tobias, also known as JC, is an alumni who majored in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Science and Technology Studies. He was inducted into Omega Chi Epsilon (the National Honor Society for Chemical Engineers) in 2015 and was the Pledge Master of the Kappa Chapter. He was also one of the Pledge Directors of Theta Tau. JC is part of other organizations in the NYU community as well, including I.F.A. at NYU, where he serves as a dance captain or choreographer each year. This also allowed him to teach workshops to raise money for charity. JC takes great pride in the relationships he’s made with others throughout his life, especially through these organizations and his high school step team. His now eight-years tenure of stepping has granted him the ability to unite those he leads with a certain feeling of family, enabling him to take on leadership roles in all of his collegiate organizations. If he was able to drop his career as an engineer, JC would dedicate his life to performance, while sharing his love for step, dance, fitness, sneakers, comic books, and video games with the community.

Jennifer Tang BS in Electrical Engineering Class of 2017

Jennifer Tang

Jennifer is an alumna majoring in Electrical Engineering. She decided to pursue a career in the field of Electrical Engineering because she enjoyed her breadboarding and digital logics classes in high school. A number of her teachers including a math teacher, two electrical engineers and one mechanical engineer recommended that she become an engineer because they saw potential in her. Last year, Jennifer worked as a Teaching Assistant for the introductory General Engineering class and has previously worked for the Athletics Department at NYU Tandon and also at PineBridge Investments and Con Edison. She was recently the Rush Chair of Theta Tau. During her free time, Jennifer plays a number of sports including volleyball and she also enjoys watching action movies.

Jee-anna Graeff

Jee-Anna is an alumna majoring in Mechanical Engineering. At NYU, she was a floor representative for her resident hall and a member of the Society of Women Engineers. When she's not at school, Jee-Anna is a volunteer at her local historical society, where she is the committee chairman of recording acquisitions. On her free time, Jee-Anna enjoys exercising and getting in touch with her inner Monica Geller because nothing feels better than having a clean space.

Andrew is an alumnus majoring in Electrical Engineering. He chose this major because during physics class in high school, he had a greater interest in the circuits chapters than any other chapters. Tonianna Lynch

Tonianna is a recent alumna who majored in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and participated in the BS/MS Program. After graduating, she hopes to work in some sort of environmental field developing systems beneficial in limiting global climate change. Outside of school, she has done research at The Energy Institute, making batteries with the hopes of stabilizing the energy grid. She is also the co-founder of the Poly Project and the Chemists' Club and had played soccer for the NYU Poly team.

Wai San Gu

Wai San is an alumnus majoring in Electrical Engineering. He was the Vice Regent of Theta Tau, but also was one of Theta Tau's Professional Chairs for Spring 2016. He did research under Professor Quanyan Zhu regarding moving target defense when in NYU. He is also a member of Tau Beta Pi and was one of the Brotherhood Chairs for Fall 2015. When he is not in class, Wai San is either eating Chipotle, at the gym, or tossing with friends.

She felt that it was something that was new and interesting to her compared to other topics taught in school. At NYU, she was the Professional chair in Fall 2015 and was the Scribe for Theta Tau. She was also a Student Orientation Leader and looks forward to doing it again because it is really enjoyable and satisfying. Outside of school, Tiffany works at Con Edison as an Engineering Aide. Shuyuan Luo, also known as Lolaly, is an alumna majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Business Study. She believes that computer science is related to everyone's daily life and has the ability to create a better future and a better world. Outside of school, she worked with Google's 2020 Girls Project and had her own education company in Michigan. This past summer, she interned at Google in Mountain View. Roy is an alumnus majoring in Business and Technology Management. He chose his major because it offers a wide variety of careers and is interested in working as a process engineer after he graduates.
